Show notes

Russell Stoner and Ashley Brooke Cohen talk about Byron Allen and why Comics Unleashed is actually a really entertaining show. Those comedians make rapid-fire one-liners look easy, and not everything has to be political like The Late Show or overly offensive like Kill Tony. Comedy is subjective. For example, some people may not watch Adam Sandler movies, but he is incredibly successful (and also very underrated for his performance in Jay Kelly). After many tangents, the co-hosts finally get to Russell’s most recent featured background role: Jared the hotel manager in Episodes 1 and 2 of The Four Seasons Season 2, now playing on Netflix. They provide a surprising amount of in-depth knowledge about a character with no lines, including the backstory a regular viewer might not immediately realize. Even though it’s “just background,” a lot of work and attention to detail went into bringing Jared to life. What other background actor gets their own stunt double and character name? The fun continues with Russell doing many different accents and impressions while Ashley tries to figure out how to tell the story of Jared in chronological order and being "Jamia," the female version of Jamie from the Joe Rogan Experience. They also discuss what working as a stand-in means, tips for becoming a better background actor, and why it's essential to create Instagram reels that showcase your acting ability.
